Includem is a charity which supports the most vulnerable and at risk young people across Scotland.

We are seeking an exceptional and progressive leader who will shape the organisation in the next exciting phase of its development, creating greater opportunity to enable Includem to support more young people and families.

As Chief Executive you will lead a team of enthusiastic and committed individuals who work alongside young people, building mutual trust and respect, creating confidence and ultimately delivering positive, sustainable outcomes.

We need a Chief Executive who shares our values and vision and who builds and maintains strategic relationships with key partners. You will be an experienced strategic leader with a successful track record of team, organisational and commercial leadership.

An understanding of the Scottish political and economic landscape would be advantageous. We’re looking for someone who is never satisfied with the status quo, someone who can be ambitious for our organisation and for the young people we support.

Mission and values 

Includem’s creation in 2000 came from a simple principle – we believe in young people and we want them to succeed – no matter how complex their circumstances. This belief in young people remains the same today and forms the basis of everything we do.

The service we provide is shaped by the recognition that young people need support at times of most need – we’re there for them 24/7 and we don’t give up.

Organisational development

Innovation is at the heart of our organisation and we continue to develop services for children, young people and families who most need our help. Our service development has always been related to the needs of young people, while being driven by our core values.

In order to meet need at as early a point of intervention as possible we have developed services in conjunction with others, for example to reduce the need for high cost out of authority placements or with Police Scotland to reduce frequent, violent offending by young people in Glasgow.

Over this time of growth and diversification, we have developed a strong foundation in governance and leadership. We were the first organisation to be recognised by CIPFA with the Excellence in Governance Award in 2015. The strength and capability of the Includem Board and the clarity of separation of governance and leadership has been crucial in the organisations development.

We now support around 600 young people each year and are in the process of developing our services to meet the needs of more young people across Scotland.

Our services

Our support is built upon authentic relationships of mutual trust and respect between worker and young person. We support, challenge and collaborate with young people on a one-to-one basis to address complex issues in their lives. We also provide a 24/7 helpline to young people and their families to provide crisis support every day of the year.

We work with partners in social work, education and Police Scotland to identify young people who most need our support.

Our work generally focuses on these core objectives:

  • Preventing family breakdown
  • Supporting alternatives to residential care
  • Crisis support
  • Raising attainment and reducing school exclusion
  • Reducing offending

Additionally, we offer a tapered transitional support service to young people who no longer need intensive support, but are not ready to move on completely
