Morag began her career as a geography teacher and taught in a number of schools in Glasgow before moving into educational management in 1994.
Between 1999 and 2009, Morag was an inspector of education with HMIE. In this role she had a range of inspection responsibilities including inspecting all school sectors and education authorities. She was lead inspector for additional support for learning from 2004 -2006. In this role she provided advice on additional support needs and inclusion to Scottish Ministers and was responsible for inspection reports on all additional support needs and special schools. From 2006 – 2009, Morag was assistant chief inspector responsible for managing the inspection programme for primary schools and for the development of advice on of self-evaluation.
Morag took up post as a head of service in education services, Glasgow City Council in June 2009. During this time she was responsible for all schools in the NE of the city and had strategic responsibility for inclusion and additional support needs. She retired from this post in July 2016.
