We are deeply disappointed that the UK Government has not abolished the two-child benefit cap, despite compelling evidence of the harm it causes to children and families across Scotland.
We feel this is a missed opportunity to lift an estimated 15,000 children in Scotland out of poverty.
We welcome the Chancellor’s announcement that the maximum Universal Credit debt reductions will drop from 25% to 15% from April 2025 but more needs to be done to review public sector debt collection.
