Includem’s ADAPT project – funded through the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund – launched in 2023. The ADAPT Project focuses on young people who are in conflict with the law, and young people who are at risk of conflicting with the law. Within this area, the project has a broad scope, from early intervention to young people who have committed high-tier offences. Includem’s ADAPT project is currently carrying out a scoping exercise across Scotland to understand the reality of young people who are in conflict with the law. A significant part of ADAPT is the funding and creation of pilot projects across the country. These projects are co-designed with third parties and are focussed on ‘filling the gaps’ in current provisions. The project has established pilots in a range of areas, from Restorative justice to Structured Deferred Sentencing with more pilot projects planned for 2024 in education, detached youth work, peer mentoring, and more.
